Pair of Gilt Bronze Female Attendants – South India, Mid-20th Century
A charming pair of Indian gilt bronze figures representing female attendants, finely cast and decorated with gilding. One figure is shown holding a tray, while the other plays a conch shell, both standing gracefully on stylized lotus bases.
These figures were made in South India during the mid-20th century, using the traditional lost-wax casting technique. Their poses and ornaments are typical of ritual or temple decorative attendants, evoking music and offerings during sacred ceremonies.

India, South India. Mid-20th century (ca. 1950s–1970s).
Material & Technique
Sand-cast and hand-finished bronze alloy with traces of gilding. The undersides are open, showing traditional casting texture.
