Description

Bronze Vishnu Statue – India, ca. 20th Century

This traditional bronze statue of Vishnu was made in India, likely in the mid to late 20th century, using the lost-wax casting technique. Vishnu is portrayed in a classic four-armed posture, holding the sacred chakra (discus) and shankha (conch), both powerful symbols of cosmic order and purity in Hindu belief.

The figure stands gracefully atop a stylized lotus pedestal, adorned with fine jewelry, sacred thread, and a tall mukuta (crown). The red patina across the surface adds a ritualistic aesthetic and enhances the visual depth of the bronze.

This type of statue is traditionally placed in home temples or used in daily worship, but also fits beautifully into collections of Indian sacred art.
