Description
This Nepalese fire-gilded bronze statue represents Uṣṇīṣavijayā, the longevity goddess associated with purification, protection and the prolonging of life. The sculpture shows the deity with three faces and six arms, a configuration typical of Nepalese ritual bronzes from the 19th century.
The central face retains its refined features, while the two secondary faces follow the traditional Nepalese interpretation where side profiles are modelled in simplified form. The body proportions, the ornamented crown and the layered jewellery confirm the attribution to a Nepalese workshop. Traces of the original fire gilding remain visible on protected areas of the surface.
Microscopic examination reveals copper-based patina, cuprite and tenorite layers, and fine mineral deposits consistent with long-term natural ageing. The casting displays traditional lost-wax characteristics, including surface porosity and asymmetric hand-finished details. The sculpture is solidly built and weighs 2.4 kg.
