Description

This bronze figure represents a Royal Attired Buddha from the Rattanakosin period of Thailand (19th century). The Buddha is shown wearing the characteristic crown and layered ceremonial ornaments associated with court-related imagery of this era. The modelling of the face is calm and symmetrical, with the softly arched eyebrows and elongated contour that define early Bangkok work.

The body is cast in bronze using the traditional lost-wax technique. The surface shows natural age and oxidation, with minor irregularities consistent with long-term handling and historical storage rather than modern treatment. The ornamental details around the torso and shoulders are precisely defined, reflecting the decorative vocabulary of 19th-century Thai royal sculpture.

Inside, the figure retains its compact original core material, a typical feature of historical lost-wax casting. The internal structure, surface behaviour and tool traces align with authentic 19th-century production, and no modern repairs or artificial ageing are visible. Overall, the piece corresponds closely with known Rattanakosin bronze Buddhas of royal type.
