This ceremonial wooden spoon originates from the Guro culture of central Côte d’Ivoire. It is carved from a single piece of wood and features a kneeling female figure forming the handle, with a hand shaped bowl at the lower end. Such spoons functioned as ceremonial and status objects rather than domestic utensils.

The surface shows natural patina and wear consistent with age and handling. A vertical crack is visible at the front of the figure beneath the breasts. This crack is old, stable and typical for this object type due to wood movement and carving technique. It does not compromise authenticity but has a direct impact on market value.

No modern repairs, adhesives or artificial ageing are present. Based on material, carving style, wear patterns and cultural comparison, this object is confirmed as an authentic early to mid 20th century ceremonial spoon.
