Description

This large bronze Buddha (H 55 cm x W 37.5 cm, 10.6 kg) is an authentic 19th-century Thai temple sculpture from the Rattanakosin period. The statue is cast in high-quality bronze using the traditional lost-wax method and shows the Buddha in the Bhumisparsha mudra — the classic “earth-touching” gesture symbolizing enlightenment and inner strength.

The flame-shaped ushnisha on top of the head is a separately cast, removable piece, typical for older Thai bronzes. The statue is hollow with its original internal clay sealing still in place. Under magnification, the surface shows natural mineral deposits and multi-layered patina, consistent with long-term age and devotional use.

This is a strong, well-proportioned temple piece with real presence — not a modern reproduction. Ideal for a meditation room, studio, interior space or private collection.
