This sculpture depicts Shakyamuni Buddha seated in Dhyana mudra, holding a patra alms bowl in both hands. The figure is rendered in a sober and restrained manner, with a calm facial expression, elongated earlobes and a simply modelled monastic robe. The overall form reflects a utilitarian temple image rather than a courtly or export object.

The bronze is hollow cast using the traditional lost wax technique. The underside was originally sealed and later broken open in antiquity. The interior reveals remnants of the original clay core, irregular wall thickness and extensive natural corrosion. Layered oxidation and mineral accretions confirm long term age and ritual use. No modern fillers, resins or repairs are present.

Traces of original fire gilding survive in protected recessed areas, particularly around the eyes and textured details. Protruding surfaces such as the shoulders, hair and facial features show smooth wear consistent with prolonged devotional handling rather than later mechanical polishing.

Based on construction, material characteristics, wear patterns and corrosion profile, this sculpture is consistent with a 17th century Himalayan bronze, likely produced in a regional North West Himalayan workshop.
