Antique Bronze Buddha in Dhyana Mudra – Laos, ca. 1700–1800
This rare and early bronze Buddha statue originates from Laos and dates to approximately 1700–1800. It depicts the Buddha seated in Dhyana Mudra — the classical gesture of meditation — with a sober, spiritual presence typical of early Laotian temple bronzes.
The piece is hollow cast in bronze and retains a dark brown to green-black patina. Both interior and exterior show signs of long-term age exposure, including crystalline mineral buildup. Microscopic analysis confirms a multi-layered patina structure and no evidence of modern cleaning, lacquering, or mechanical tooling.
