Description
Antique Bronze Buddha in Bhumisparsha Mudra – Tibet or Nepal, ca. 1890–1930
This serene bronze sculpture shows the historical Buddha Shakyamuni in the iconic Bhumisparsha mudra, the “earth-touching gesture” symbolizing enlightenment. Originating from Tibet or Nepal and dated to circa 1890–1930, the statue was traditionally used on a personal altar or in a monastic context.
The robe is decorated with delicate floral and animal-like motifs, especially prominent on the back. The double-layered lotus base features fine petal details, encircling the base in full relief.
