Description

Tibetan Fire-Gilded Bronze Buddha Statue – Rattanakosin Style (ca. 1950–1970)

Height: 44 cm

Width: 30 cm

Weight: 6.4 kg

Material: Hollow-cast bronze with traditional fire-gilding

Origin: Tibet / Himalayan region

Base: Sealed, sand-filled

This richly detailed Buddha figure combines Tibetan iconography with stylistic influences from Rattanakosin Thailand. Cast in bronze using a sand-core hollow method and gilded with authentic mercury-based fire-gilding (confirmed via UV and microscopic inspection), the statue resonates with historical and ritual depth.

The Buddha sits serenely in full lotus posture upon a double-lotus base, with the right hand in Abhaya Mudra (gesture of fearlessness) and the left in Dhyana Mudra (gesture of meditation). His robes are finely incised with auspicious Buddhist motifs like lotuses, parasols, and eternal knots. A Tibetan inscription is engraved on the underside, affirming its Himalayan origin.
