Description

Antique Bronze Buddha Head – Thailand or Burma, ca. 1880–1930

This small but striking Buddha head is cast in solid bronze and originates from Thailand or Burma, dating to approximately 1880–1930. It was traditionally sand-cast and exhibits a calm and introspective expression, with vertically segmented hair, ringed earlobes, and a floral-patterned crown band. Unlike many modern reproductions, this piece has a completely closed underside and shows clear signs of age: oxidation in the casting seams, natural patina development, and microscopic crystalline deposits. Under UV light, traces of natural salts can be observed in the ornamental grooves—confirming its age and authenticity. Perfect as a devotional fragment, study object, or small collector’s piece, this Buddha head embodies Southeast Asian spiritual art from the late 19th to early 20th century. A timeless presence with genuine historical character.
