Description

Mandala Thangka Painting – Nepal, ca. 1970 (Bikram Sambat 2035)

This authentic Mandala Thangka originates from the Kathmandu Valley in Nepal and dates to around 1970, corresponding with the year 2035 in the Nepalese Bikram Sambat calendar. Painted on cotton with mineral pigments and gold highlights, it is mounted in its traditional silk brocade.

Measuring 39 × 30 cm, the composition features Buddha Shakyamuni seated within a mandala palace, surrounded by concentric lotus circles, four gates, and protective deities. Wrathful guardians appear in the lower section, while celestial Buddhas and attendants occupy the upper register.
