Description

Antique Burmese Temple Dancer – ca. 1900–1930

This graceful wooden sculpture represents a traditional Burmese temple dancer, exquisitely carved in the early 20th century. Originating from Burma (present-day Myanmar), this piece dates to approximately 1900–1930 and was likely part of a larger temple or ceremonial ensemble.

The figure is captured in mid-dance, adorned with detailed gilt decorations and finely incised motifs, typical of Burmese courtly aesthetics. The elegant posture, serene facial features, and elaborate headgear reflect a high level of craftsmanship and devotional artistry.

Made of solid hardwood and richly embellished with gold-leaf detailing and colored glass inlays, this statue weighs over 10 kg and stands at 112 cm tall. Despite its age, the figure remains well-preserved, with authentic wear patterns that affirm its historical origin.

Country of Origin: Burma (Myanmar)
Date: ca. 1900–1930
Material: Hand-carved hardwood with gilding and glass inlays
Dimensions: Height 112 cm x Width 37 cm
