Description

Fire-Gilded Bronze Buddha – Rattanakosin Style (China, 1880–1910) | 39 cm | 5.2 kg

This striking seated Buddha statue was cast in China around 1880–1910, stylistically inspired by the ornate Thai Rattanakosin tradition. Made from bronze and finished with authentic fire-gilding, the statue displays detailed ornamentation, layered robes, and a serene meditative expression.

Although modeled in classic Thai form, UV and microscopic analysis confirm the object’s Chinese origin and pre-modern craftsmanship. Under 365nm UV light, the gilding shows granular, non-synthetic fluorescence, indicating traditional mercury-gilding methods.
