This Chinese bronze Buddha represents a Yongle style interpretation of the seated meditation Buddha, executed in a regional workshop rather than an imperial court atelier. The sculpture is cast in bronze and originally finished with fire gilding, traces of which remain across the surface, showing natural wear consistent with age and devotional handling.

The figure is seated in dhyana mudra, expressing calm concentration and spiritual balance. The vlam shaped ushnisha without a lotus support reflects a classical Yongle inspired model that continued in use well beyond the Ming dynasty. The robe is sober and restrained, with smooth transitions and minimal ornamentation, characteristic of Chinese Buddhist sculpture rooted in Ming court aesthetics.

Microscopic surface examination reveals hand guided polishing and traditional finishing marks, not modern machine work. The gilding follows the surface struct ure closely, confirming mercury fire gilding rather than modern electroplating. The base is closed and magnetically responsive, consistent with historical Chinese construction using iron rich elements or integrated closure plates.

This sculpture is not an imperial Yongle court bronze but an authentic continuation of the Yongle visual language, produced for temple or devotional use during the late Qing period or very early twentieth century. It represents a genuine historical object rather than a later decorative reproduction.
