Description

Antique Tibetan Bronze Bodhisattva – ca. 1700–1800

This authentic bronze statue originates from Tibet and dates back to the late 17th to 18th century. The crowned bodhisattva is seated in vajrasana (lotus posture) on a double-tiered lotus base, with four arms and symbolic hand gestures (mudras) typical of tantric representations of Avalokiteshvara or Tara.

  • Origin: Tibet
  • Date: ca. 1700–1800
  • Material: Bronze
  • Height: 13 cm
  • Width: 6.5 cm
  • Weight: 350 g

Constructed using traditional lost-wax casting, the statue shows clear signs of devotional use. The hollow underside contains oxidized clay core fragments, and the surface reveals natural malachite-green and reddish cuprite patina under magnification. A vertical cooling crack confirms authentic historical casting technique.

This piece was not made for decorative purposes but served a spiritual function in a monastic or private setting. Its unaltered condition and ritual wear affirm its historical value.
